We know that when government takes money away from working families and small businesses, it stifles growth and builds obstacles to success. Cutting taxes and keep tax rates low, empowers working families by letting them keep more of their income and encourages small businesses to expand and create jobs. That is how we continue to create opportunity and success in America. We must reform our tax system with these goals in mind: Reduce tax burden on working familiesCongress should work to provide relief to America's families, open the doors to opportunity, and let future generations know that the American dream is well within the reach of all who truly desire it. We need to make tax rates predictable for families by making the following tax relief permanent:
Tax code simplificationAmericans spend too much time and resources navigating our complex tax code. We must simplify our tax code to help families and small businesses to make it easy to understand for all Americans. Global competitivenessThe U.S. currently has the second highest corporate tax rate in the world. American workers and businesses compete at a global level today but our economic growth is stifled by this high tax burden. Companies flock to the best environment, and higher tax rates clearly put businesses that want to grow and invest here at a disadvantage. We should not stand still as the rest of the world scrambles to embrace the low-tax philosophy that we taught them. If we want to grow our economy, create jobs, and take the lead in this global economy, we have to reduce our corporate tax rate. Doing so will help make America more competitive in the global economy and encourage investment in our country. Help John Ensign reform our tax system. |
