During the Great Depression, one of Roosevelt's first speeches talked about “the forgotten man.” It was originally a concept introduced by a Yale philosopher named William Graham Sumner a half century before the Great Depression. Sumner's forgotten man was the person indentured to a cause, having to pay for it without ever being asked. Roosevelt and his New Deal turned the forgotten man into the recipient of government help. Today, we are in the midst of creating a forgotten generation. Returning to Sumner's theory, our forgotten generation is comprised of future Americans. They are being indentured with trillions of dollar in debt. They will have to pay, and today, very few are standing up for them.

Let's not forget this generation. Let's put together a true stimulus package that fixes housing and creates jobs.
