Campaign Trail Leads Through Minden For U.S. Senator

Minden, Nevada — U.S. Senator John Ensign toured GE Energy’s optimization and controls business in Minden on Thursday while on a campaign swing through Northern Nevada.

The senator started Thursday with a campaign breakfast at the Carson Valley Inn and then toured the plant.

“I have a fascination with high technology and it’s one of my primary focuses in Washington,” Ensign said.  “I believe this is an area that is important to the future of our state and our country and to remaining competitive in the world.”

Ensign encouraged the team at GE to keep doing, what they are doing sayng that it is good for the local economy and the global market.

Brian Palmer, general manager of Optimization and Control, and members of his staff spent an hour with Ensign providing him an overview of the global GE business located in the Carson Valley.

“We were excited to have the opportunity to share with Senator Ensign what we do here in Minden and around the world, and to showcase our world-class facilities and people,” said Palmer.

“I think the kind of work we do and the services we provide our energy clients resontated with the Senator, especially given his platform and involvement in high technology, innovation and competitiveness at the federal level.”

Ensign, a Republican, is running for re-election against Democrat Jack Carter.
